BORDEAUX 3
VIGNOBLES
ST-ÉMILION
Our three days in Bordeaux were filled with
activities, many revolving around the ever-
present vine.
The city has been living a renaissance over
the last few decades and is rapidly becoming
a major tourist centre. The formerly grime-
covered buildings, at least in the downtown
area, have been mostly cleaned, revealing a
striking architectural heritage.
To solve parking problems giant
underground garages have been created:
one beneath the now-famous mirror fountain
is a nine-storey parking lot for 1600 cars.
We took a walking tour of the old town and
wandered around on our own. I have divided
the Bordeaux city photos into three albums.
One afternoon we visited two wine regions,
Graves and Sauternes. Another day we
drove to the village of St-Émilion.
Unfortunately la vendange was advanced
this year due to the warm summer and we
saw little activity in the fields.
